John W. Michael, Clinician and prosthetist/orthotist educator from the USA, will present a session for practising prosthetists, orthotists and technicians on amputee socket interface, gel liners.

The session will review the history of elastomeric liners and cite pertinent literature including engineering characteristics responsible for the suspension and weight bearing characteristics of gel liners.

This presentation will conclude with a brief look at recent objective findings about the impact of gel liners on the activity level of unilateral trans tibial amputees.
