NSW-ALS Forum 31st August 2001
"The 2nd Annual NSW Artificial Limb Service Forum was a great
success with the following speakers ensuring the day was most
informative for
all participants:
- Elena Murty from the Dept. of Health presented an overview of the status of the ALS within the Health Dept.
- Chris Manwarring, TAFE gave an update on the new TAFE course on prosthetics
- Dr David Garlick, Dr of Sports Medicine UNSW, spoke on the course available within the UNSW
- Kathryn
McCosker Manger Hunter Prosthetics & Orthotics, gave an update on
the Working Party involved with the setting up of the Amputee Support
Program
- Beryl Owen, President of the Amputee Assoc. of NSW spoke on the various associations
- The
Prince Henry Hospital Clinic attended along with a quadruple amputee.
With his determination and the guidance of the clinic he is now able to
attend to his daily living activities.
- Kath Stephenson and Wendy Schuld, Driving Assessment Service, Calvary Hospital gave the audience a driving lesson
- The Discretionary Committee answered questions with regard to items, which are not on the scheme.
- Georgios Kalaremas, Appliance & Limb Ltd showed the audience components that are allowed on the scheme.
This year’s Forum was a most informative and interesting day. I
