"The 2nd Annual NSW Artificial Limb Service Forum was a great success with the following speakers ensuring the day was most informative for all participants:

  • Elena Murty from the Dept. of Health presented an overview of the status of the ALS within the Health Dept.
  • Chris Manwarring, TAFE gave an update on the new TAFE course on prosthetics
  • Dr David Garlick, Dr of Sports Medicine UNSW, spoke on the course available within the UNSW

  • Beryl Owen, President of the Amputee Assoc. of NSW spoke on the various associations
  • The Prince Henry Hospital Clinic attended along with a quadruple amputee. With his determination and the guidance of the clinic he is now able to attend to his daily living activities.
  • Kath Stephenson and Wendy Schuld, Driving Assessment Service, Calvary Hospital gave the audience a driving lesson
  • The Discretionary Committee answered questions with regard to items, which are not on the scheme.

This year’s Forum was a most informative and interesting day. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all presenters and all who attended the Forum. I look forward to your continuous support and presence at future forums."
