Proposed National indicator of Prosthesis Cost Cost of administration for NIC

At the Feedback Forum of representatives from the prosthetic industry  on Wednesday, 3 November 1999  at 3.05pm, one of the points that was discussed and generally agreed to was that the NIC from www.alsa.org.au should reflect the cost of administration.

A suggestion was to add the cost of administration of the respective ALSs to the average cost of each type of prosthesis as a percentage of the administrative costs versus the total cost funding the artificial limb services.

It was agreed that there are variations in what that administration provides, however an averaged indicative figure for the 1^st of January 2000 may be a useful starting point.

Proposal

Each State and /or territory indicated the administrative percentage as at 1^st of January 2000. (Other associated costs have also been added.)

This percentage has been added to the National Indicator of cost on the website and gives a "better" indication of cost of a particular limb.

(Please remember this is only a guide and may serve to help each administrator gauge what their respective administrative cost is as compared to the total budget paid out on prostheses.)

As with other aspects of the website, it will not be possible to identify what the administrative cost of any particular scheme is without contacting that State or Territory direct.
